The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team can provide you the opportunity to build and operate a suite of massive-scale, coordinated cloud services in a broadly distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment. We are forming a new Infrastructure Delivery Engineering org at OCI. The OCI Infrastructure Delivery Engineering team will be responsible for building services and tools to accelerate the process by which OCI grows its compute and network capacity. The service will address all aspects of the Data Center and its Physical Assets lifecycle from planning and design, to delivery and, eventually, decommissioning enabling OCI to continue to grow its footprint in both existing regions and to entirely new regions. Our goal is scale up the process to be able to meet high-capacity demands from our large and hyperscale customers.

We are looking for experienced senior software engineers who are ready to solve new challenges in designing, implementing and maintaining highly available and scalable services for handling physical assets throughout their lifecycle.

From a technology perspective, this is a greenfield development environment with a huge amount of autonomy, allowing us to build and innovate freely while integrating with existing systems through well-established contracts.

About You :

  • You are a cloud development engineer with experience in chipping in to the delivery of high-scale, high-impact solutions

  • Passionate about the customer, always exceeding expectations

  • Excellent communication skills. You can clearly explain technical concepts

  • A well-adapted engineer who understands the importance of high standards, never satisfied with mediocrity and constantly aspiring for excellence

  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a chaotic and fluid environment

  • Passionate about technology and are not afraid to defend your opinions or position with peers/superiors

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of software development experience with 1+ years of experience shipping scalable, cloud-native distributed systems.

  • Proficient at high-level programming languages, preferably Go and Java. Good knowledge of scripting languages such as Python.

  • Ability to work with a team to deliver products from the ground up going through a complete product life cycle

  • Experienced with microservice design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols along with developing highly reliable services.

  • Understanding of service metrics and alarms through the development of dashboards, service critical metrics, and alarming systems.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-functional team environment

  • Strong grasp of Computer Science concepts (data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms)

  • Experience with production operations and standard methodologies for putting quality code in production, going on-call and solving issues when they arise

  • Able to communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS/Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Computer Science

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience building control plane/data plane solutions for cloud-native companies

  • Experience in diagnosing, solving and resolving performance issues in complex environments

  • Understanding of the physical asset lifecycle within a cloud-scale datacenter

  • Experience working with Data Center Infrastructure Management systems and tools.

  • Experience working on Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IAC) languages, preferably Terraform.

  • Experience with components of modern infrastructure like service discovery, secret storage, containerization, software-defined networking, etc.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers in defining, crafting, and delivering the platform using the latest technologies on OCI. You should be able to understand broad systems interactions, be hands-on, be able to investigate any part of the stack and have a good sense of cloud infrastructure. You should value simplicity and impact, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Our engineers are also the people who can work independently and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers. You should have experience developing and operating high-scale services, and an understanding of how to make these cloud-scale services resilient. The ideal candidate will be technically strong and productive; someone who knows how to balance speed and quality with iterative and incremental improvements. You understand operational excellence and know-how to infuse a culture of being proactive within your team. You recommend and justify major changes to new and existing products and establish consensus with data-driven approaches
