Summary

The Driver Services Coordinator (DSC) is responsible for providing and maintaining appropriate documentation which includes driver sign-in and order verification. The DSC is responsible for traffic flow throughout the facility and working with Supply Chain personnel to make sure all trucks are processed safely and efficiently. The DSC will actively manage the drivers’ experience while at the plant to ensure GAF is driver centric.

The DSC will cordially greet all visitors, assist them with signing in, notify the person they are visiting, and instruct them on which building’s visitor vestibule they are to report to. The DSC will also assist in signing out our visitors as they are exiting the grounds.

Essential Duties :

Dock Schedule and Carrier Compliance

  • Confirm all outbound/inbound finished good loads have been scheduled in CarrierPoint as required

  • Communicate with the Transportation Planner regarding no shows and reschedule as necessary

  • Using the Carrier Point gate in all arriving carriers, confirm appointments and the load they are picking up/delivering

  • Obtain Trucking Company Name, equipment weights, equipment type, trailer Provide/Confirm with the driver any information or site instructions specific to their load, i.e. appointment time, required equipment (tarps, V-boards), and preparing their vehicle for loading/unloading

  • Ability to recognize and ensure through communication with Loaders, special customer load requirements are followed

  • Direct the carriers to the appropriate loading/unloading areas to maximize loading efficiency and minimize drivers’ time on-premise

  • Confirm all appointments for the day in CarrierPoint have been closed out or moved/rescheduled as necessary

  • Process in and out Raw Material trucks following site procedures

  • Macropoint - monitor orders to ensure all are tracking

Driver Experience and Comfort

  • The DSC will be responsible for ensuring the drivers experience at our Plant is positive and puts GAF in the best position to attract carriers. Duties associated with this task are:

  • Greeting the drivers with a cordial and positive attitude during the sign in and sign out process

  • Manage load times to assure that drivers are assisted in a timely manner and address/report issues accordingly

  • Assist Supply Chain with coordination of driver activities/appreciation

  • Maintain and promote usage of driver survey tools to create improvements that will enhance the driver experience

Warehouse Flow and Control

  • Managing ad hoc requests for load locations

Other Duties

  • Phone coverage as required to assist with directions, appointments via Carrier Point and CPU’s

  • Special projects as assigned to drive goals and initiatives within the department

Schedule

Our Valdosta team leaders will always do the best we can to confirm and communicate work schedules in advance. As a new location, employees hired will need to be flexible due to the nature of our startup operations and changes that may occur. Currently, we’re planning:

  • The DSC schedule will normally be Monday - Friday day shifts

  • Weekends and later hours may be required based on demand

  • Overnight travel to other GAF plants may be required for training

  • Business conditions will dictate future long term work schedules

Under This Roof, We Require

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required

  • 2+ years of related experience in high volume manufacturing, distribution, production planning and/or transportation environment

  • Positive attitude, ability to adapt, manage stress and contribute to a team environment

  • Ability to communicate, both written, and orally, in English is required

  • The Valdosta site is a tobacco and e-cigarette free facility; any exceptions will be addressed on site

  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite and ERP systems (PS or SAP)

  • Intermediate knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS – RF)

  • Intermediate knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (Carrier Point, Oracle)

  • Intermediate knowledge of Transportation industry, State and Federal Regulations and industry best practices
