Job Description Summary

Release Train Engineer (RTE) provides guidance in Agile, Scrum, and SAFe and leads Agile delivery teams consisting of a mix of organization and possibly contractor/vendor staff. The core of the Release Train Engineer (RTE) role is to coordinate, track and report on the status of an engineering product release. RTEs work jointly with stakeholders to create a clear plan for a product release, convey that plan to stakeholders and then track to ensure successful delivery.

Release train engineers (RTEs) have an important role in Agile Release Trains (ARTs). By supervising the ART, they help ensure teams develop quality solutions that contribute to project success. Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain the plan of record for a release

  • Track status, maintaining dashboards and reports.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure product features are delivered.

  • Monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Communicate status to all stakeholders.Be the point of contact for the product allowing scrum teams to focus on execution.

  • Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, or quality

  • Manage the release backlog; continuously order and prioritize

  • Engage frequently with the scrum teams to review progress, facilitate action resolution, remove impediments

  • Prioritize continuously in accordance with the understanding and validation of customer problems and needs

  • Coordinate with Services and support to schedule resolution of issues with released product (PS)

  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews

  • Maintain a release repository and manages key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process

  • Managing the ART flow of value, or steps used to create value for the project

  • Coordinating and aligning ART activities with the organization's strategic goals

  • Implementing PI planning events and monitoring their progress

  • Encouraging teams within the ART to collaborate on certain tasks to meet goals

  • Promoting improvement through inspect and adapt (I&A) events after PI completions

  • Helping keep the ART productive by ensuring the use of lean-Agile processes

Education Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 5 years of experience.

Business Acumen:

• Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems

• Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts

• Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry trends

• Has the ability to analyze impact of technology choices

Other Skills:

• Ability to takes ownership of small and medium sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members

• Ensures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale. Able to speak to mutual needs and win-win solutions. Uses two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results

• Identifies misalignments with goals, objectives, and work direction against the organizational strategy. Makes suggestions to course correct

• Continuously measures deliverables of self and team against scheduled commitments. Effectively balances different, competing objectives
