This position will serve as aSeniorEnvironmentalAnalyst/Scientist intheEnvironmentalToxicologyProgram(TOX)supporting programand Bureauactivitiesrelatedtoexposureinvestigations, risk assessment,surveillance,andhealthriskcommunication.The incumbent shall directjunior staff inTOX as well as interns within the program. The individual will be responsiblefor assessing risks to human health from exposure to contaminants in a variety of environmental media, conducting site-related document reviews, preparing technicalmemos,reports,andpresentationsforvariousprojectswithintheEnvironmentalToxicologyProgram. This individual will be responsible for preparing and giving presentations at professional andpublicmeetings. Responsibilitiesincludeservingasprimaryliaisonwithkeystakeholdersandcoordinatingcommunityoutreach activitiesrelatedtoprogramactivities.Thisindividualwillalsoassistwiththedevelopmentofpoliciestoreduce publichealthimpactsfromenvironmentalexposures.TheindividualwillrepresentDPHonrelatedcommittees, as requested, and will attend public meetings on project related issues. * * DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES_(These duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive)_: * Serve asaToxicologistintheEnvironmental ToxicologyProgram(ETP). * Responsibleforreviewofenvironmentalsamplingdata,siteassessments,andtoxicologicalevaluationsfor possible issuance of public healthadvisories or health-related fact sheets and to support CLPPP case management staff identify alternative exposure sources for poisoned child case investigations. * Conduct Tier 1 site assessments and liaise with HUD Region1 to support CLPPP HUD grant and related lead abatement projects. Provide technical support for CLPPP HUD Program Manager. * Respondtopublicconcernsaboutpossiblehealtheffectsfromexposurestoenvironmentalcontaminantsin variousmedia, including-site related contamination such as lead in housing and consumer products, and PFAS, PCBs and mercury in fish. * Serveasproject manager,overseeing schedulesandprojectdeliverables. * Attendmeetingsasthebureauortoxicologyprogram’srepresentative. * Prepare draftreportsandeducationalmaterialsforreviewbyProgramandBureauLeadership. * Summarizeexistingregulatoryguidanceandcriteriafromstate,federal,andauthoritativeagencies. * Conduct analysesofpossible healthrisksassociatedwithexposurestovariousenvironmentalmedia. * Representtheprogram,bureau,anddepartmentinprovidingtechnicalpresentations. * Updaterisk-communicationtoolswith new information onenvironmentalexposureand healthoutcomes. * Assistwithpreparingmaterialsforpresentation atpublicmeetings. * Reviewenvironmentalconsultingservice(vendor)proposals. * Assistwiththemanagementoftechnicaltasksperformedbyenvironmentalconsultants(vendors). * * REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental science and public health. * Demonstrated familiarity with the terminology and standard abbreviations used in environmental science and public health. * Proficiency in applying the principles and techniques of toxicology including risk analysis. * Knowledge of the types and uses of toxicological testing techniques and procedures. * Comprehension of the properties and characteristics of carcinogens, mutagens, teratogens and other toxicological agents. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as risk assessments, chemical analysis, biological analysis and hydrogeology reports. * Skill to prepare technical and general reports andto determine proper format and procedure for assembling items of information. * Capacity to write concisely, express thoughts clearly and to develop ideas in a logical sequence. * Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of environmental science data, to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. * Talent to give oral and written instructions in a precise, understandable manner. * * PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Solid written and verbal communication skills with proficiency establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with other.
