    The Opportunity and Who You’ll Work With:

Position Type: Permanent, Full Time, Benefits Eligible

Work Format: Hybrid, minimum of 2 days onsite, up to 3 days remote

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 09:00AM – 05:00PM Eastern Time

Our Finance & Administration team is responsible for managing budgets, forecasting financial outcomes, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.

By providing strategic financial insights and oversight, this team supports our mission of delivering impactful and accessible content to a diverse audience. Their expertise not only helps in optimizing resources but also in shaping WBUR's financial strategies to adapt to the ever-evolving media landscape.

As Financial Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the financial operations of WBUR.

You will collaborate closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure effective financial management practices that align with the strategic objectives of WBUR and Boston University.

While your role includes independent tasks, you will also coordinate with senior finance colleagues to ensure alignment with overall organizational goals.

You will have expertise with current financial technologies including but not limited to SAP and Microsoft Excel, as well as some familiarity with Customer Relationship Management systems (CRMs) and data analysis tools such as Salesforce, Power BI and/or Tableau.

You will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential Functions:

  • (40%) Financial Administration Support:

  • Assist in managing daily financial operations, including processing transactions, maintaining cash controls, and preparing bank deposits.

  • Support the maintenance and reconciliation of financial accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with established financial policies and external regulations.

  • Help in the implementation and monitoring of financial systems and controls to maintain efficiency and integrity of financial operations.

  • (30%) Budgeting and Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing and monitoring the annual budget in collaboration with team leaders and senior leadership.

  • Contribute to the preparation of periodic financial reports, highlighting budget variances and financial performance.

  • Participate in financial forecasting efforts to support strategic planning and decision making by the senior leadership team.

  • (20%) Compliance and Audit Preparation:

  • Support the coordination and preparation for annual audits, ensuring all financial records are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Maintain documentation and support the compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying informed on new legislation and its implications for WBUR.

  • (10%) Internal Constituent Communication and Support:

  • Serve as a liaison to various departmental colleagues, providing necessary financial data and support for department specific reporting.

  • Assist in training colleagues on new financial policies and systems to ensure uniform application across the WBUR.

Required Skills

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/relevant experience

  • 3 years of related experience

    Capabilities and Proficiencies:

  • An excitement about WBUR’s mission to provide an essential public good: high-quality journalism and enriching experiences that foster understanding, connection and community.

  • Expertise with current financial technologies including but not limited to SAP and Microsoft Excel.

  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management systems (CRMs).

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau.

  • Knowledge or proficiency with Salesforce data analysis tools and CRMs is preferred.
